The owner wanted to renovate the terrace of her home in Biarritz without removing the existing tiles. She trusted us after previous work carried out for her family.
A bonding bridge was applied to fix the new tiling onto the old surface, avoiding full removal. An invisible drainage channel was also installed. Although the client’s request was fulfilled, this experience confirmed that the best practice is always to remove the old tiling and rebuild the base from the concrete slab, with proper slopes and screeds.
The client was satisfied with the aesthetic result and continues to rely on us for future projects. However, we take this as a lesson: never again install new tiling over existing tiling, since the initial savings do not compensate for the reduced durability and quality.
